Springfield, Ill. -- Bradford National Bank, with locations in Greenville, Highland, and Marine, was honored for their exceptional community service and received the 2016 Illinois Bank Community Service Award presented by the Illinois Bankers Association (IBA). The awards ceremony was held on June 14 during the 125th Annual IBA Conference held at the Grand Geneva Resort in Lake Geneva, Wis. This is the 14th year for the Community Service awards, which honor Illinois financial institutions that demonstrate a high level of service in their communities.

Bradford National Bank in Greenville believes in the hallmarks of community banking; local people, local commitment, local decisions, and local investment. For last year's Greenville Bicentennial Celebration, the bank was the first business to step up and support the event financially with a $20,000 Platinum Level Sponsorship. Many of the primary events during the two-day Bicentennial event were held on Bradford’s main bank campus in Greenville.  The bank also once again sponsored and helped organize the 11th annual Art in Education Art Show. This annual two-day event, sponsored and organized with area schools, is designed to showcase the artwork of students in all Bond County Unit #2 schools. In addition, the bank makes a huge effort to get local resident to "Go Local" for the holidays, using radio, newspaper, web sites and social media to get the word out.

Additionally, the bank has supported area schools with their sports and academic programming, little league, area hospitals and senior centers, and the list goes on and on.

Bradford National Bank President Doug Stroud, along with bank CEO Frank Joy, was on hand to receive the award.  Stroud said, “We take great pride in supporting the communities we serve.  In a 12 month period, we support literally hundreds of organizations, programs, and charities, as a real community bank should.”  He added, “We encourage our employees to get involved in community activities as well.”

Stroud said it was very important for a hometown bank to take an active leadership role in the community.  He said, “For 149 years, area residents have put their trust in Bradford National Bank.  We don’t take that responsibility lightly and do all we can to help our community grow and prosper.”

The Illinois Bankers Association, the voice of Illinois’ banking industry, is a full-service trade association dedicated to creating a positive business climate that benefits the entire banking industry and the communities they serve. Founded in 1891, the IBA brings together state and national banks and savings banks that together employ well over 100,000 people in nearly 5,000 offices across the state.
